CDC Foundation Earns Highest Charity Rating
April 8, 2009, ATLANTA – For the second year in a row, the CDC Foundation earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation's largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. Only 19 percent of the charities evaluated received at least two consecutive four-star ratings, which are awarded to organizations with the highest marks for efficiently managing and growing their finances.
Charities are evaluated on two broad areas of financial health - their organizational efficiency and their organizational capacity. Ratings are based on the financial information provided on IRS Forms 990. Charity Navigator uses that information to analyze a charity's financial performance in seven key categories: program expenses, administrative expenses, fundraising expenses, fundraising efficiency, primary revenue growth, program expenses growth and working capital ratio. During fiscal year 2007, the CDC Foundation spent 85.4 percent of its budget on program expenses, 7.3 percent on administration, and 7.1 percent on fundraising.
